Cross Country and Track
Why coach?
Running races has always been a love of mine. The mental strength and discipline it takes to train for an event is a challenge I enjoy. Running allows me to take time to clear my mind and improve my overall health. I have had the pleasure of coaching cross country and track at the middle school level for the past two school years. I have learned to look at my students through a different lens, as they too are able to see me as more than just a math tutor in the classroom setting. Sharing the love and passion I have for one of my own hobbies with students is so rewarding. Not only am I able to have a different perspective for these students who become athletes in my eyes, but also for their parents. The parents are an essential part of any athletic program being effective. Their support and encouragement is what drives students/athletes to perform to their best ability both inside and outside the classroom. Coaching has allowed me to develop school pride, district pride and pride in the community from a different viewpoint; a viewpoint that I hope to always carry with me. "Coach me and I will learn. Challenge me and I will grow. Believe in me and I will win." -Author Unknown |
